Obituary: GLADYS COLLINS WALKER

Gladys Collins Walker, 86, of 1677 Brown Road, went home to be with the Lord on April 19, 2024, at the Gibson House, in Wentworth, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Wesley Byerly officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Gladys was born on August 31, 1937, in Rockingham County to the late Gilbert Lee and Nannie Roberts Collins. She graduated from Bethany High School. She retired from Guilford County Planning and Development. She was also a licensed cosmetologist and was owner and operator of “Gladys’ Beauty Salon” for more than 40 years. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband Billy Walker, a brother, G.L. Collins and four sisters, Debra Faye Collins, Brenda Kay Ware, Jean Collins Ross and Margaret Collins Pruitt. She liked to read, cook, and sit in her rocking chair on her porch. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed being Memaw and Mawmaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one sister. She will be remembered as a happy and fiercely independent woman who was blessed to live a full life. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
