Obituary: GEORGE MANFRED HAWKS

George Manfred Hawks, 81, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Jacobs Creek Nursing and Rehab.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

George was born in Surry County on October 8, 1941, to the late Carlie and Mammie Carpenter Hawks. He worked as a taxi driver for many years and later worked at a boarding house. He also served in the National Guard. George was a character that often enjoyed telling stories of “The Good Ole Days”. He had a good heart, loved God, loved his family. and enjoyed playing music with his guitar.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Peggy Moore of Martinsville and Martha Wiggington of Mt. Airy, and many nieces and nephews.
