Obituary: GEORGE LEONARD THOMAS

George Leonard Thomas departed this life on Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2022.

As a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1972. With courage and tenacity, he served his country during several overseas tours and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy.

His father, George Edward Peoples, Sr.; sisters, Alease Peoples and Faye Williams; brother, George Edward Peoples, Jr., preceded him in death.

Survivors are: beloved mother, Shirley Thomas Jefferies; sisters, Claudia Mc Clenny, Darlene Thomas, Louise Peoples Lee, Lillie Ann Peoples and Linda Peoples; brothers, Odell Thomas, Douglas Thomas, Michael Thomas, Nathan Thomas, Cory Williams, Bobby Jefferies and Aldophus “Dee Dee” Peoples; devoted cousin and friend, Elvis Casey (Joyce); other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street. Public viewing will be Friday afternoon at Johnson & Sons.
