Gary Neal Hawkins, 78, born on October 9, 1946, passed Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at LifeBrite Community Hospital.
Gary was born on October 9, 1946, in Rockingham County, to the late Ivan Gann Hawkins and Virginia Ruth Oakley Hawkins. He was a graduate of Sandy Ridge High School and retired from McMichael Mills with 10 years of service. Gary was a member of the Delta Methodist church where he was a member of the Methodist Men. He was a good husband and provider for his family. He loved the outdoors. His passion was hunting, especially rabbit hunting, collector of old vehicles, and liked attending car shows.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Hawkins.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rita Brown Hawkins; son, Todd Hawkins; granddaughter, Ashley Hiatt (Jeremy Hooker); great-grandson, Tyler Wood (Lily Jones); and great-great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Rose Wood; and brothers, Rudy Hawkins (Barbara), Mark Hawkins (Dale), and K9 Max.
