Obituary: GARY DEAN BURKE

Gary Dean Burke, 67, of Mayodan, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home.

An 11:00 a.m. memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Ray Funeral Home with military honors and Pastor Bruce Martin officiating.

Gary was born in Franklin County, VA on March 30, 1957, to the late James and Garnette Taylor Burke. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Honolulu where he met the love of his life, Arsenia. Gary was the son of a pastor and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He worked in the transportation industry but also owned a roofing company with his brother at one time. Gary loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan, and loved the UNC Tarheels.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy and Joey Burke.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Arsenia Burke; his children, Maria Talbert (Sam), Jessica Chavez (Thomas), and James Burke (Madison Yokeley); his brother, Billy Burke; five grandchildren, Daxton Burke, Olivia Chavez, Max Talbert, Leo Talbert, and Hallie Burke; and his fur best friend, Rocky.
