Garnette Taylor Burke, 91, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 23, 2022, at Brian Center in Eden.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, August 26th, at Colonial Funeral Home & Chapel in Madison.
Garnette was born January 2, 1931 in Vance County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Len Taylor and Maggie Parrish Taylor. She was a retired nurse at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Garnette was a member of Longtown Pentecostal Holiness Church in Longtown, NC. She was a minister’s wife for 60 years and during that time, served as President of Women’s Ministry of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Billy Ray Burke (Margaret) of Stoneville and Gary Dean Burke (Arcenia) of Mayodan; six grandchildren, Billy Ray Burke, Jr., Keith Burke, Maria Burke, Jessica Burke, James Burke and Jamie Burke; several great-grandchildren; along with daughters-in-law, Kaye Burke of Henderson and Cherrie Burke Proctor of Stanley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend James Herbert Burke and two sons, James Lee Burke and Joey Dale Burke.
Colonial Funeral Home & Chapel in Madison is serving the family.
