Obituary: GAITHER ANDREW BARLOW

Gaither Andrew Barlow, 87, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2024 at Annie Penn Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Roberts officiating. Military honors will be provided by the North Carolina Army National Guard. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Barlow was born on January 9, 1937 in Caldwell County to the late Frederick Barlow and Alma Baumgartner. Gaither proudly served in the United States Army as part of the military police. After retirement from the military, Gaither continued his working career as a truck driver. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon. Gaither had a passion for watching westerns and took great joy in collecting knives and watches, hobbies that brought him much happiness.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Joyce Barlow; sister, Henrietta Hutchinson and brother, Max Barlow.

Survivors include his son, Martin Andrew Barlow; daughter, Susan Andrea Barlow; grandchild, Armand D. Smith; several great-grandchildren; brother, Doug Barlow; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Kathy Joyce and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
