Obituary: FREDRICK “FRED” FRANK PONOW

Fred Ponow of Eden passed away peacefully on Nov 21st at Countryside Manor.

Fred was born in Washington DC to Dell and Mary Ponow. Although he was born with many challenges, he made his family proud with his many accomplishments throughout his life. He was a loving son and brother.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Dell and Mary Ponow, and his sister, Chris Bacon.

Fred is survived by his brothers, Dell Ponow of Eden and Gary Ponow of Gaithersburg, MD; sisters, Dora Ponow of Gaithersburg, MD and Ellen Shemo (Butch) of Mayodan; and brother-in-law, Patrick Bacon of Madison; nephews, Jason Bacon of Madison and Cory Ponow (Patricia) of Cologne, Germany; nieces, Melanie Barnes (Nathan) of Mayodan and Kelly Shemo of Madison; and his great nieces and nephews, Avery, Brayden, and Charlie.

There will be a private family graveside service on Monday, November 25,at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro where Fred will be laid to rest next to his parents.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Countryside Manor, especially the special CNA’s and nurses, as well as the hospice angels, Sheyanna, Gwen, and Rosemary, who provided Fred with loving care.
