Obituary: FLOYD “STEVE” VADEN

< br/>

Floyd “Steve” Vaden was born to the late Floyd B Vaden and Margie Atkins Vaden on November 1st 1949. Dad always told us that God broke the mold when he was born and we believe that to be true.

He retired from NCDOT, but the job he looked forward to most was being the head usher at Ayersville Baptist Church. He was a member there since 1992. He missed being in church after his stroke and looked forward to going back to where he greeted and gave out bulletins. He took great pride in this.

He was a loving father, brother and son. He strived to make sure we knew he loved us all. He never went a day without checking on any of us. In return, we did our best to make sure he was taken care of and made sure he felt loved as well. This journey not only made us realize how fragile life and relationships are , but has also brought us together. Through it all, we have shared many jokes , laughter, and tears together.

He enjoyed eating at Mayflower, drinking Mtn Dew , watching Nascar races, Law and Order, and basketball. And at the end, Who knew playing rummy would bring some joy!! But most of all, he enjoyed being a grandfather. His grandchildren always brought a smile to his face no matter how he felt. He loved them fiercely.

He is survived by his mother(Margie), 1 brother (Kent), 2 children- Melissa and Kathryn (Brian) , and 3 grandchildren Carley Bennett , Silas and Allison Collins. Also his Christian wife of 20 years who abandoned him after her journey through sickness where he stood by her side as a husband should.

He has joined his father , Floyd B Vaden and brother, Terry Vaden in heaven to suffer no longer but to also keep them in line. Dad was not one to be left out by his brothers so he quickly went to find Terry.
His presence will be greatly missed.
