Mr. Knight was born on September 16, 1948 in Rockingham County to the late Fletcher Harold Knight, Sr. and Alice Hughes Knight. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was an active member of Mayodan First Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon. Fletcher served as a Southern Baptist missionary in Yemen for eight years with his wife, Judy, and their three boys. Back home in Rockingham County, he devoted many years assisting local veterans in need. Fletcher enjoyed the fellowship of his community and could often be seen riding around and reminiscing with old friends. His greatest joy was his beloved grandchildren and rocking them to sleep on his belly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Larry Knight, Harry Knight and Cliff Knight.
Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Judy Lawrence Knight; sons, Fletcher Harold Knight, III (Amy), William Joshua Knight (Julie) and Benjamin Clark Knight (Kyndall); grandchildren, Sean Aiden Knight, Tyler Crews, Allison Knight, Isaac Knight, Ella Knight, Mary Knight, Natalie Knight, Henry Knight and Clarke Knight and brothers, Jack Lee Knight (Lynn) and Kevin Knight (Miranda).
