Fay Nelson Gann, 89, died on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Moses Cone
Hospital.
Fay was born on December 8, 1935 in Rockingham County to the late Troy Nelson and Missouri Duncan Nelson. She was a member of Mt. Hermon Methodist Church and a former member of the Red Hat Society. Fay had an infectious sense of humor, always ready for a good joke and a hearty laugh. She was a talented quilter and also had a unique fondness for collecting anything with roosters. Fay will be remembered for boundless energy, green thumb and her giving spirit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Anderson Gann; son, Jeffrey Dean Gann; sister, Inice Nelson Stewart; brothers Hassell Herbert Nelson and Wade Warner Nelson and special sister-in-law, Pauline Carter Nelson.
Survivors include her son, Freddie W. Gann (Catherine); grandson, Drew Gann (Samantha) and sisters, Sadie Faust, Beulah Vernon and Shelby Corum.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to Fay’s special nieces, nephews, neighbors and church family who supported Fay through their love, prayers and acts of kindness.
