Elizabeth Banks Orr, 92, left this earthly life Saturday, March 23, 2024, at home.
She was born in Fayette County, GA, to the late Jesse Clyde Banks and Mamie Florence Pilkinton Orr. Elizabeth and her husband Billy moved to Stokes County in 1968. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Mrs. Orr was employed with the Stokes County School system as a Special Education Teacher, and retired in 2003.
Elizabeth greatest love was working with children. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, ceramics, working in her flower garden, playing bingo, and genealogy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Adams Orr; son Joe Orr; sister Margaret Jennings; and brothers Joe and Paul Banks.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Phillip (Catherine) Orr, of Spokane, WA; Jesse William and Tammy Orr, of Charleston, SC; Ben and Audrey Orr, her caregivers, of Sandy Ridge, NC; grandchildren James Orr, Christy Ann Orr, Casey Bergbom (Nate), Britton Orr, Kristen Orr, Brittany Orr, Heather Orr, and Brooke Koen (Justin); great-grandchildren Skye Barker, Austen Bergbom, Emilie Bergbom, Finn Bergbom, and Gavyn Koen; brother T. Therrell Banks (Hirsch), of Gainesville, GA; and sister Ellen B. Long (Jerry), of Statesville.
The family extends their appreciation to Trellis Supportive Care for Elizabeth’s end of life care.
