Elder Catherine Totten-Wilson, affectionately known to many as “Hecky”, “Sis Cat” and “Cat” was born to the late Gordon Totten and Hulene Blackwell Totten in Reidsville, North Carolina. She attended the Rockingham County Public Schools and later matriculated at Rockingham Community College.
Joining church at an early age, Catherine was reared at Mt. Hermon Holiness Church under Rev. Harvey Dingle. She later joined the congregation of Assembly Faith Ministries under Pastor Jessie Cobb where she received and accepted the call of ministry. Later, she joined Ramah Restoration Outreach Center under Bishop Allen Harrison and shortly thereafter, she founded the Rebirth Outreach Ministries of Reidsville, NC, of which she became Senior Elder.
“Elder” and “Reb” as she was later referred to, was a pillar of the Reidsville Community serving in various capacities including the Reidsville Appearance Committee, the ABC Board and was founding member of the “Old School Block Committee” (2011). In 2021, Elder Wilson, as if prophetically, titled the Old School celebration “Mission Accomplished” as she saw her vision manifested in the beautiful Block Mural mounted and unveiled during this historic celebration.
“Ma Cat”, “Auntie” and “Auntie Kittie Kat” as she was so lovingly called by others, was an “After School Mom” and assisted in the “Help Warm a Child Project” each year. She was employed at Hamiton Cleaners for over fifteen years and explored various occupations before settling at the Caswell County Department of Social Services from which she retired. In 2006, she opened the “Great Tasting Hot Dog Stand” in Pennrose Mall and also served as Treasurer for the Ministerial Alliance of Reidsville and surrounding areas for a number of years. In 2015, she started her own TV show entitled “But God 378” on the STAR News Channel and she was most recently employed at McLaurin Funeral Home as an administrative assistant until her health declined.
