Edward “Bain” Harbour, 92, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Ruffin.
A graveside service will be held at Happy Home Church in Ruffin on Monday, April 3, 2023, at 2:00PM with Pastor Dennis Clements officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00PM-2:00PM, at the church and other times at his home.
Bain was born on December 7, 1930, to the late Rev. J.D. and Victoria Harbour and was of the Methodist Faith. He grew up working at his dad’s lumber company, which is now known as Home Lumber Company. Later, Bain became a carpenter and built many beautiful homes in Rockingham County including his own where he has lived for the last 54 years. Then after retiring for a short while decided to open and operate his own tire business which was well known as “Harbour Tire Co.” of Eden. Bain will be remembered as a hardworking, tough man of few words who never complained. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry “Big L” Harbour; stepson, Dean Stone; five brothers and six sisters.
Bain is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pauline Tate Harbour of the home; sons, Eddie Harbour, wife Romona, of Ruffin and Tim Harbour, wife Kim, of Ruffin; stepdaughter, Angie Wood, husband Tommy, of Reidsville; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and one more on the way, 3 step grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren and one more on the way.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Kim and Kathy of Hospice for their exceptional care of Bain in his final years.
