Edna Walker Sharpe Barnes, 89, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord Friday June 10, 2022 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital Greensboro, NC
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday June 14, 2022 in Citty Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will see friends 10:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M. before the service at Citty Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the daughter of the late Jamie W. and Bessie Chapmon Walker and had lived her entire life in Rockingham County. She was a retired Customer Service Representative with Burlington Industries. A member of Antioch Baptist Church, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and reading the Bible.
Edna was preceded in death by her husbands: Arnold Charles “Dink” Sharpe and James Carlton Barnes, a special niece: Tammy Morefield, a grandson: Matthew Hill and four brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughters: Deborah Sharpe of the home, Vicky Sharpe Higdon, Kitty L. Merritt (Bill) and Kathy W. Hill (Barry) all of Reidsville, brothers: Robert Walker of Reidsville, and Paul Walker (Rosie) of Eden, sisters: Linda Perkins of Eden, and Patsy Foster (Jim) of Yanceyville, nine grandchildren: Wayne Bates, II (Tracey), Brandon Harrelson, Chris Harrelson, Lanny Higdon (Kelly), Jeremy Higdon, Jordan Higdon, Tara Martin (Jennifer), Melanie Puckett (Brad) and Nicholas Hill, eight great grandchildren: Kenny Bates, III, Anthony Chilton, Kelsey Harrelson, Grey Higdon, Phoebe Higdon, Myles Higdon, Parker Upchurch, and Adaleigh Puckett.
