Mr. Manuel was born on November 27, 1933, in Rockingham County, the son of the late Grant and Pearlie Manuel. He retired from Burlington Industries after many years of dedicated service.

Buster was blessed with a long life and found joy in many things. A devoted Christian, he ensured his children were raised in church. In his younger years, he served faithfully in many roles at Lakeview Baptist Church, including Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Director, congregational music leader, and wherever else he was needed.

He loved working outdoors and took great pride in maintaining an immaculate yard. Buster was known for keeping his cars spotless and enjoyed tending his large vegetable garden. He found satisfaction in outdoor work, often seen riding his mower or tractor, wearing his beloved big straw hat.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two beloved sons, Mike Manuel and Darrell Manuel; his sisters, Lola Chandler, Gladys Taylor, and Lillie Nelson; and his brothers, Earl Manuel, Troy Manuel, William Manuel, Ralph Manuel, Sam “Boose” Manuel, and Harry Manuel. Buster was the youngest of ten children and also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He deeply loved his family.

He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 71 years, Betty Manuel; daughter Shannon Biggs (Barry); grandsons Brandon Manuel (Stephanie), Grant Biggs (Shana), and Landon Biggs; Great-grandson Tripp. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Buster was also blessed with a large extended family of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Whether they have passed or are still living, each held a special place in his heart. They loved him like a brother, and he loved them in return.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of North Pointe of Mayodan, Walnut Cove Rehab, and Ancora Compassionate Care for the tender, loving care they provided.
