With deep sorrow in our hearts, our Dwight Stephen Dove, Sr., passed away Tuesday, February 4th, 2025.
There will not be a visitation per his request. There will be a graveside service at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens at 2pm Sunday, February 9, 2025. Military Honors will be given by the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome everyone that would like to attend.
Dwight was born September 14th, 1945 to the late Jim Green Dove and Nannie Chapmon Dove. He was the youngest of 6 children. Dwight was a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966. He earned a medal in National Defense Service for Sharp Shooter Rifles and Good Conduct.
Dwight enjoyed many years fishing and hunting with his dad. Later in life, he loved to play pickleball with his friends.
He is survived by his wife Pam; one son, Dwight Steven Dove, Jr. (Sue); two daughters, Leigh Shirt (David) and Stephanie Hall (Daniel); five grandchildren, Christian Shirt (Gina), Chelsea Shirt, Hunter Jefferson, Meredith Hall, Maxx Dove; one great-grandson, Drago Shockley; one sister, Maribeth Woolard; one Godchild, C.J. Merritt; many dear nieces and nephews; his sidekick, his dog, Boo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Dot Rakestraw, Margie Puckett, Eva Cox; one brother, Bobby Dove.
Dwight was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. The family requests donations in his memory be made to Amedisys Hospice Care of Alamance-Caswell, 2975 Crouse Ln, Burlington, NC 27215; Trinity Wesleyan Church, 186 E. Aiken Rd, Eden, NC 27288, where he was a member, or to a charity of your choice.
