Dr. Jimmie Herbert Chilton, Jr., age 74, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024. He was born in Surry County on November 9, 1949, to the late Jimmie H. Chilton, Sr. and Margaret Pruitt Chilton. Jim was a professor in the Physics department at Wake Technical Community College. He enjoyed playing the guitar and composing music. Jim loved the Lord Jesus, and his songs were a reflection of the Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Neiman Chilton; children: Christopher Chilton and wife Stacy, Amanda Chilton and fiancé Joel Simpson; brother, Stevie Chilton; sister, Betty Sue Easter; stepchildren: Mattheu Woolard, April Woolard; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, November 11, 2024, at Dan View Cemetery, 715 S. Fieldcrest Road, Eden, NC 27288.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cross Assembly Missions, 2660 Yonkers Road, Raleigh, NC 27604.
