Dorothy “Dot” Perkins, known to her family as Nana, peacefully passed away at home on October 7, 2022, a beautiful Fall day. She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Converse (Stan) and Deb Perkins (Greg Grodem); eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Dot was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She married David Perkins in 1951. They enjoyed 55 years together. She was a devoted member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Raleigh, NC.

Kathryn and Deb will always be grateful for the love and joy with which Nana filled their home. She taught them the Golden Rule, to love music and art, and to cook. She taught them that a walk in the woods is always a fine way to spend an afternoon, and that “he who catches ‘em cleans them”. While she did not like cleaning fish, she evermore loved a Krispy Kreme donut.

No service is planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to First Church of Christ Scientist, 1400 Hillsborough St, Raleigh, NC 27605 or Northern Stokes Food Pantry, 7257 NC 89 Hwy, Westfield, NC 27053.

Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.

Online condolences may be offered at www.colonialfh.net.
