Obituary: DOROTHY MAE “KUTE” WADE






Ms. Dorothy Mae “Kute” Wade departed this life on Friday evening, November 4, 2022. 

Born on February 13, 1955, in Rockingham County, North Carolina, she was the youngest of all the children born to the late Willard Oliver Wade, Sr. and Minnie Hairston Wade. At an early age, she joined Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church and  she was educated in the Caswell County School System.  She was formerly employed by Burlington Industries and Fieldcrest-Cannon Corporation.  Later, she was employed by Morehead Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant until her health declined.  In her spare time, she enjoyed coloring pictures on her tablet, playing games on the internet, and watching tv, especially old movies and her favorite Madea movies.   She faithfully transported her sister to dialysis each week.  She also loved to shop with her friends and family.   

In addition to her parents, a son, Roger DeShan Wade; sister, Almeta Branch; brothers, Williard O. Wade, Jr. and Ed T. Wade, preceded her in death.  She leaves to cherish her memory: loving son, Donald Lee Wade; granddaughter, Faith Totten; sister, Marjorie L. Yancey; brothers, James Curtis Wade and John D. Wade, Sr.; aunt, Nannie Jeffries; uncles, John Hairston (Margaret) and James Hairston (Inez); nieces, Teresa Y. Miller, Tammi Yancey, Margarette H. Hampton; nephews, John D. Wade, Jr., Tyronne Wade and Derono Muhammad; special great-nephew, Marcus Miller and a host of other nieces and nephews; special friends, Jackie Hampton, Denise Roberts and Janice Foster; additional relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 from the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6038 Park Springs Road, Pelham with Pastor Hamid Kamara, presiding and Pastor Gregory L. Hopkins as the eulogist.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the church.  Public viewing will be Friday afternoon at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street, Reidsville.
