Obituary: DOROTHY LOUISE MAXWELL BROWN

Mrs. Dorothy Louise Maxwell Brown departed this life on Thursday afternoon, April 20, 2023.

She was a native of Guilford County and a resident of McLeansville for the majority of her life.  Mrs. Brown was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant and a faithful member of Union Grove Congregational Church where she served with the Senior Choir.  During her leisure, she enjoyed drawing, cooking, baking cakes and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her parents, Lucille Summers Maxwell and William Maxwell; beloved husband, Robert Brown; son Eric Brown; sisters, Mary “Peggy” McLean and Arlene Maxwell; brothers, Jamie Maxwell, Walter Maxwell and Roy Maxwell; son-in-law, Clarence Pittman; brothers-in-law, Sylvester Neal and Emory Coleman, preceded her in death. 

Survivors are: loving daughters, Teresa Matier (Walter), Melissa Pittman (Clarence) and Wendy Corbertt (Donald); devoted son, Rodney Brown (Karen); 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Nicole Brown; sisters, Naomi Neal, Roxie Summers (Larry), Mozelle Coleman, Linda Fitzgerald, Brenda Davis and Janet Bracken (Larry); brothers, James Maxwell, Dewey Maxwell (Doris), Payton Maxwell and Clarence Maxwell; special friend, Viola Davis; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 from the Union Grove Congregational Church, 5414 Hicone Road, McLeansville with Pastor Anthony Spinks presiding.  The family visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the church.  Public viewing will be Wednesday afternoon at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.
