Dorothy Jean McCandless “Dot” passed into God’s arms on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the age of 83. She spent her final moments at Eckerd Living Center in Highlands, North Carolina surrounded by her loving family. To the world, she was a hard-worker, mom, and granny. To her family, she was their entire world.
Dot was born on October 18, 1940, in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late Robert Lawernce and Gladys Alyne McCandless. The youngest child of 12, Dot was always very sassy and full of life. She met the love of her life, Bobby, at the age of 15 and they had 5 children.
Dot spent her life doing what made her happy. She loved spending time with her family, playing with the babies, watching the birds, fighting the squirrels, and spoiling her grand dogs.
Dot was preceded in death by both parents and her siblings.
She is survived by daughter Deborah Palomino (Bricio), son Dean Griffin (Janet), daughter Janet Moore (Buck), son Clyde Griffin (Lynn), daughter Angela Griffin, and her very best friend and granddaughter Amber Griffin. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, and numerous grand dogs.
