Obituary: DOROTHY “DOT” ANN BOOTH BUSH

< br/>

Dorothy (Dot) Booth Bush went to join our Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at UNC Chapel Hill Medical Center due to a tragic falling accident.

A Memorial Service will be announced soon.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, James (Jim) Bush; adult children Jay Howerton, Britt Stout (John), Andy Bush (Jacqueline), and Matt Bush (Julie); grandchildren Jessica Jackson, Ashley Bush, Emily Bush, and Alex Russo; brothers Ronnie Booth (Shirley) and Garvin Booth (Julie); sister Evon Jones; and dog Bailey. She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her father Willis Booth, brothers James Booth and Carl Booth, sisters Gaynelle McCollum and Dorraine Shropshire; and her very much loved fur babies, Nicky, Tasha, and Cookie.

Dot enjoyed giving back to others and her community. She was passionate about her family and her friends. She was fortunate that her friends stayed close even though miles may have separated them.

Dot and Jim, led a grand and adventurous life, living in New York, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina. They were fortunate to travel to many foreign countries, as well as many states in America. Their time together was what she cherished.

She was an avid reader since a very young age. During her life, Dot served on many charitable boards of directors such as the American Heart Association, the Children’s Hospital, the YMCA of Houston, Texas and Lee County, Florida, and the AIDS Resource Council, just to name a few. She considered herself an activist and was involved in local and national politics. Dot was co-chair of the grass roots group “Will of the People” in Rockingham County.

She felt strongly that we are allowed to live a good life only if we do good for others. One of her philosophies was to “be the reason someone smiles, be the reason someone feels loved, and believe in the goodness of others.”

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com
