Doris Lynn Hill Matkins, 65, our beloved daughter, sister, wife , mother, friend and child of God joined our loved ones December 4, 2024 to rest high on that mountain.
Doris graduated from Stoneville High School in 1977 and attended Rockingham Community College. She was employed by the Rockingham County Schools as a teacher’s aide and later as the secretary at Moss Street Elementary School.
She enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening, and the koi pond she and Steve installed. Doris loved feeding the birds in her yard, arranging flowers, and making grapevine wreaths.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Stephen Lee “Steve” Matkins, her father: William Walker Hill and her brother: Johnny Hill.
Survivors include her son: Will Tyler Matkins of Leland, NC, her mother: Gladys McGee Hill of Stoneville, sister: Wanda H. Fagge (Dennis) of Stoneville, brothers: Kenneth Hill of Mayodan and Donnie Hill of High Point, and one grandson: William Crosby Matkins.
