Obituary: DORIS GIBSON NICHOLS

Doris Lena Gibson Nichols, 93, of Eden passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Novant Forsyth Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 3pm at Boone and Cooke Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Dan View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 pm at Boone and Cooke Funeral Home.

Doris was born on February 7, 1930, a daughter of William Gibson and Fannie Petty Gibson, both deceased. She retired from Burlington Industries after a long career as an inspector, she later found joy in keeping children which she did until her mid 80’s. She was a faithful member of Joyful Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Bailey of Eden; her grandchildren, Michele Zaragoza of Troutman, Lisa Carter of Summerfield and Carla Osborne and husband, Mark of Thomasville; her great grandchildren, Kali Cobbler, Savannah Slate, Danielle Frazier, Dylan Roberts, Colton Osborne, Jase Osborne, Izzy Verhoeven, D.J. Kinton, Taylor Kinton and Trinity Kinton; her great-great grandchildren, Harper Ore, Cayden Kinton; many nieces and nephews and special friends.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Howard Nichols; her daughter, Diane Kinton and her grandson, Christopher Kinton.
