Ms. Dorean Michelle Mims departed this life on Friday, July 15, 2022. Born on August 14, 1961, she was the offspring of the late Louise Mims Brown and Lacy Thomas Mock.
As a native and resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina for the majority of her life, she attended the local public schools and was employed as a Manager for several fast food restaurants when she was able to work. Being a dialysis patient for 16 years and receiving treatments at DaVita Kidney Care Center, everyone loved her and called her “Momma Pudden”. She was the life of the dialysis center 3 days a week. Dorean had a soft spot for her family and loved to show off pictures of her family at the dialysis center. We are saddened of her passing, but we shall keep our hand in the hand of the Creator, knowing that He cares for His own. “Pudden”, as she was affectionately referred by family and close friends, was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend who was adored by all. She never met a stranger. She was known for her bold personality and being the older sister. She said what she meant and meant what she said. Dorean liked to play cards, dominos, knit, visit with friends and daily phone calls to her family members. She also loved to sit on the front porch with her long-term companion, Charles Gilliam. Dorean was an active member of West End Baptist Church and loved to hear the choir sing.
In addition to her parents, aunt and uncles, Flossie Scott, Joseph Mims, Larry Marshall, John Marshall, Jasper Mims and Lawrence Mims; grandparents, Virginia Courts Mock and Beatrice Mims, preceded her in death.
She leaves to lament her passing: loving sisters, Teresa L. Mock, LaTonya M. Yancey, Stephanie L. Shields and LaDonna Clark; nephews, Stephen Mock and Tahlik Shields; nieces, ZaNyiah Shields and Shannon Yancey; great-nieces, Imani and Zaelah Yancey; devoted aunts, Sandra Nicholson (Earl) and Sheryl Renee Brown-Miller (Thomas); longtime companion, Charles Gilliam; special friends, Kay Wheeler and Karen Gilliam; a host of additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special appreciation to Physical Therapist, Emily Moore for your love and support shown to Dorean. We are so very grateful for you. She loved you dearly. Also, special appreciation to the doctors and nurses of Alamance Regional Medical Center, Burlington.
