Donna Jean Lewis McKinney, 69, of Newport News, VA formerly of Greensboro, went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 23, 2024 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA.

Born in Portsmouth, VA, she was a daughter of the late Howell and Jean Merritt Lewis and had lived in Greensboro most of her life. She was a former Vice-President of First Home Federal in Greensboro and later was a Preschool Teacher at Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church in Greensboro. She was a member of Walnut Hills Baptist Church in Willamsburg, VA, where she was a former choir director. She attended Clemson University, where she earned a B.A. Degree in English with a Minor in Music and she earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The College of William and Mary. Donna was an accomplished soloist and pianist. In her spare time she enjoyed artistic pursuits of all types. She especially enjoyed crocheting and had previously taught needlepoint. She enjoyed cooking and collecting cookbooks, volunteering with 4-H, and traveling, especially to the beach. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with family and she looked forward to family gatherings. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Jim McKinney.

Survivors include her daughter: Jackie McKinney (Hunter) of Greenville, SC, her sister: Mary Catherine Fralich (Bill) of Yorktown, VA, niece: Sarah Fralich and nephew: William Fralich and a number of special sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Thompsonville Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will see friends 5:00 till 7:00 P.M. Friday, November 29, 2024 at Thompsonville Baptist Church and at other times starting Friday, November 29, 2024 at the home of her sister-in-law Margaret Paschal, 291 Cross Creek Trail off of High Rock Rd.
