Donald Graves, Sr., departed this life on Monday afternoon, December 26, 2022.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a former employee of Cone Mills Corporation. Spiritually, he was a member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church. During his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, assisting at the flea market, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
His father, James Graves, Jr.; sister, Nell Jean Slade; brother, Harold Lee Graves, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: wife of 49 years, Margaret Motley Graves; daughters, Keisha Graves (Gerald), Somekia Miller and Tasha Graves; son, Donald Graves, Jr. (Vette); grandchildren, Jakiel, Saniya, Paris, Kemiya, JaiVeon and Freddy, Jr.; mother, Daisy Bell Stokes Graves; sisters, Peggy Ann Graves and Irene Courts; brothers, Alfred Earl Graves, James Edward Graves, Jr., Levon Graves (Betty) and Ronald Graves (Judy); special friends, Wilbert Neal and Theotis Badgett; sisters-in-law, Rebecca (Joe) and Lenore; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 from the Cornerstone Christian Center, 516 North Scales Street with Pastor Reginald Cook presiding. The family visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the church.
