Deeja Jones departed this life on Wednesday, July 18, 2023.

He was a native of Rockingham County and a resident of Caswell County for the majority of his life. Attending the local public schools, he was a graduate of Bartlett-Yancey High School, Class of 1995. Spiritually, he was a member of New Ephesus Baptist Church and was a self-employed construction worker. Deeja was known as a “jack of all trades”, having skills in welding, carpentry and masonry. He shared his talents with many in the community by helping others, including widowers and the elderly. He was also a former employee of the Brian Center. Being an avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and supporting his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys.

His father, Larry Jones; maternal grandparents, James Blackwell and Eunice Pinnix Blackwell; paternal grandfather, James Jones, preceded him in death.

Survivors are: loving daughters, Ladajiona “Baby Girl” Jones and Tanayia “Mini Me” Jones; step-children, Saniyah and Jalen; beloved mother, Linda Faye Blackwell Jones; paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Blackwell Jones; sister, Min. Renee Jones; brother, Jeremiah Jermaine Jones (Valencia); nephew, Jeremiah Jones; aunts and uncles, Daphne Williamson (Ronnie), Jimmy Blackwell (Beverly Ann), Wilma King (Wilbert), Gary Blackwell (Margie), Alvin Blackwell (Miranda), Peggy Farrish (Earl), Joe Jones, Allan Jones, Gloria Jones Miles (Smokey) and Oleta Chambers (Joseph); devoted friends, Stephanie Moyer, Sterling, Marcel, Brandon, Brad, Quincy, Davon and Kevin; special friend and mother of his children, Latoria Neal (James); other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2023 from the New Ephesus Baptist Church, 8939 Highway 158, Ruffin. The family visitation will be Friday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the church. Public viewing will be Thursday afternoon at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.
