Ms. Deborah Ann Ellison Dalton transitioned peacefully on Monday, June 6, 2022 in Reidsville, North Carolina.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Reidsville Senior High School Auditorium with family visitation one half hour prior to the service and burial will be conducted from the Greenview Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. Public viewing will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 12:oo noon until 1:00 p.m. at Reidsville Senior High School Auditorium.

Deborah Ann Ellison Dalton, also known as “Coach D”, was born February 11, 1949, in Reidsville, North Carolina to the late Mack and Dorothy Ellison. A lifelong resident of Rockingham County, she attended the public schools in Reidsville, NC and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1967, where she shone in her love for basketball and was named “Best Girl Athlete” her senior year. She retired from Reidsville Senior High School after more than 20 years where she was employed as an ISS Coordinator, Teacher Assistant, and served as an Assistant Basketball Coach for Reidsville High Lady Rams. Spiritually, she was an active and devoted member of Jerusalem United Holy Church.

“Deborah Ann” as she was affectionately called, was a loving, warm, and strong woman, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, teacher, coach, and much more, while she impacted the lives of so many. She was an active and vibrant person who was always willing to help others. Possessing a loving personality and sharing her wisdom and love with all who knew her, she will remain in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by father, Mack Ellison; mother, Dorothy Ellison; sister Maxine Washington; and daughter, Keisha Patrick.

Those left to cherish precious memories are: granddaughter, Ms. Kanitra Patrick of Greensboro, NC; goddaughter, Ms. Ale-Shia “Shauneepoo” Blackstock of Reidsville, NC; sisters, Mrs. Edna Crisp, Rev. Wanda Moyer, Rev. Rosetta Badgett, and Ms. Linda Ellison, all of Reidsville, NC: brothers, Mr. Julius Ellison (Clarissa) and Mr. Alton Ellison, all of Reidsville, NC; special friends: Ms. Vicki Williamson, Ms. Barbara Martin, and Mr. Henry Mullins, all of Reidsville, NC; and a loving host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
