David Rayvonne Hawkins, 77, of Sandy Ridge, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday January 28, 2024, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.
David was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Doris Hawkins.
David was a Veteran of the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Air Force where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant as a jet engine mechanic. He was also a member of the American Legion for 53 years. David was a farmer and logger by trade. His favorite pastime was “riding the block” and the rest of his time was spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
David was also preceded in death by a nephew, Eli Hutchens.
David leaves behind a family that will miss him dearly, his wife of 57 years, Connie Hutchens Hawkins; son, Doug Hawkins (Gwen); daughters, Darlene Dill (Terry) and DeAnn Hall (Alan); grandchildren, Corey Hooker (Jenna), Reid Moorefield (Justus), Jaden Hall (Skyla), Raygan Hawkins (Conner) and Camo Hall (Noel); great-grandchildren, Masen Montgomery and Darci Hooker; one sister, Sarah Wood (Rickie); a niece Kayla Hutchens, great-nieces and nephew, Leah, Lilly, and Jackson; and a sister- in-law, Linda Davis (Jody).
During his illness David received the most loving care by his caregivers Whitney Paschall, Peggy Morse, and the Trellis Support Care Team. His daughter, DeAnn showed mercy and grace and a deep devoted love in the way she took care of her Daddy in the past year and a half.
