

David Thomas Closson Sr., 83, of Madison, NC, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2025.
A devoted telephone man and proud Navy veteran who served at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, David lived a life marked by service, love, and laughter. Known for his quick wit and humor, his infectious laugh and radiant smile could light up any room. Above all, David cherished his family, pouring his whole heart into his roles as a caring father, loving husband, and adoring grandfather and great-grandfather.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine Stantliff; father, Roscoe Closson; stepfather, Vernon Stantliff; brothers, John Closson Sr. and Henry Closson Sr.; and son, Stephen Closson.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Faye Joyce Closson; sons, David Closson II (Mary) and Daniel Closson (Stormy); granddaughters, Jessica Closson, Caroline Closson, and Olivia Closson; grandson, Stephen Cody Closson (Maria); and his cherished great-granddaughter, Isabelle. His legacy of love and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
David’s warmth and humor will be deeply missed, but his light will continue to shine through the countless lives he touched.
