Darlene Cardwell Brown, 72, left this earthly life Sunday, January 15, 2023, surrounded by love, at North Pointe of Mayodan, after an extended illness.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Cardwell Family Cemetery, Madison Dillard Rd, Madison, N.C.
Darlene was born on November 29, 1950, in Rockingham County, to the late Monroe Cardwell and Oneda Tucker Cardwell. She was a graduate of Madison-Mayodan High School. After high school, she was employed with Sears Roebuck of Greensboro for 20 years. She was of the Christian faith, had a precious soul, and a heart of gold. Her passion was children – all children. Darlene was known for her love of music, dancing, smiling and enjoying life. To know her was to love her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dewitt Brown; brothers, Steve Cardwell and Harold Cardwell; and a stepson, Stephen Brown.
Survivors include sons, Travis Joyce (Amber) and Will Brown; stepson, Matt Brown (Susan); daughter, Aprel Brown; grandchildren, Kelsey Joyce, Hayley Brown, Eli Brown, Emily Puckett, Kayla Brown, Gavin Brown, Luke Brown, Joshua Brown; and Grace Thompson; brother, Dennis Cardwell (Patsy); and a sister-in-law, Odessa Watkins Cardwell.
The family would like to thank the staff at North Pointe of Mayodan for their heartfelt care and compassion shown to Darlene and extends their appreciation to Hospice of Rockingham County for their end of life care.
