Obituary: DANA SLAYDON TAYLOR






Dana Slaydon Taylor, 66, of Summerfield, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at Fairview Baptist Church, Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Heath Lloyd officiating. The family will receive friends at their home in Summerfield.

Dana worked at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department for 30 years. She served in a variety of law enforcement roles throughout her career from student resource officer, to deputy, to detective Outside of her work, Dana loved to spend time on her farm and was happiest when riding her horses. She enjoyed talking with her many friends and could often be found sitting in the barn talking on her phone for hours on end.

More than anything else, Dana loved her family. She was an excellent cook and showed her unending love through her delicious meals. She was a fiercely devoted mother, wife and sister. No matter the circumstances, her love for her son lit even her darkest days. Dana was a servant of God. Her family, while grieving their loss, finds solace knowing she has found her peace in heaven.

Dana is preceded in death by her parents, Earlie “Beanie” and Hortense Slaydon, and sister; Pamela Slaydon.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Daryl Taylor; her son, Gavin Taylor and wife Carson; along with her sister, Lauran Garst as well as a loving group of extended family and friends.
