Curtis “Poke” Lee Soyars, 86, of Reidsville, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Reidsville with Reverend Dennis Chapmon officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1-1:45pm, at Fair Funeral Home in Eden.
Poke was born May 11, 1936, in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Dewey E. Soyars, Sr., and Amanda Alcorn Soyars. He was a graduate of Wentworth High School, Class of 1956. Poke was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church and the Gold Star Sunday School Class. He worked as a backhoe operator for NC Department of Transportation for 32 years, until his retirement.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara R. Soyars; daughter, Lee Ann S. South and husband Tony of Eden; sisters-in-law, Nancy F. Soyars, Virginia G. Soyars; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Poke was preceded in death by his sisters, Beatrice “Bea” S. Setliff (Duke), Evelyn Soyars; brothers, George Soyars (Nannie), Dewey Soyars, Jr. “Cap” (Lorene), John Ray Soyars, James Soyars, Donald Soyars.
