Colon Orell “Popeye” Stovall, 77, left this earthly life Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Trellis Supportive Care (Hospice) of Winston-Salem.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Friday, July 29, 2022, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service Friday (12 -2 pm) at the funeral home.
Orell was a life-long resident of Stokes County. He was a graduate of Sandy Ridge High School and was retired from Unifi, Inc. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. Orell was an avid sportsman and greatly loved the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manley Robert Stovall and Opal Smith Stovall; an infant sister; daughter, Melissa Stovall Mabe and brother Charles Franklin Stovall.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gladys Steele Stovall; sons, Matthew Orell Stovall and Michael Paul Stovall; daughter, Melanie Foss (Jim); brothers, Manley “Keith” Stovall, and twin Robert “Oneil” Stovall; five grandchildren, Whitney Bullins Taylor (Ryan), Meghann Stovall (Junior), Alexis “Lexie” LaDrew (Daniel), Seth Stovall and Caleb Stovall; stepgrandchildren, Stephen and Michael Foss; and five great-grandchildren, Tucker, Karter, Luke, Vinny, and Kate, and several nieces and nephews.
