Clyde “Trey” Vernon McKinney III, 65, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025 at his home.
Trey was born February 3, 1960 to Sylvia Barlow McKinney and the late “Mac” Clyde McKinney, Jr. He loved farming, hunting and spending time with his family and friends. He was a supervisor for the NC DOT, from which he retired. He was a loving husband and father, who would do anything for his family. He was a beloved friend to many who he also considered and treated like family.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Stovall McKinney; son, Cole McKinney; daughter, Emma McKinney; mother, Sylvia McKinney; half–sister, Dr. Parish McKinney; step-mother, Gertrud McKinney; extended family; and special family friends Tim Moorefield and Kennon Tucker who visited and helped consistently during the last couple of months along with everyone else who has shown their love during this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
