Clayton David Kriechbaum, 70, of Eden passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024 at his home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Noon on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at St. Joseph of the Hills Catholic Church, 316 Boone Rd, Eden. The family will receive friends following the service, beginning at 2pm, at the Morehead-Fair House, 420 Boone Rd, Eden. Visitation will be held from 4-6pm Friday, January 3rd, at Fair Funeral Home.

Clayton was born to the late Harold and Marjorie Virgilio Kriechbaum on October 26, 1954 in Utica, NY. He attended St. Patrick’s School in Oneida for his grade school years. He graduated from Oneida Senior High School with the class of 1972. He attended Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY and earned an Associates Degree. Clayton then entered SUNY Qswego and graduated in 1976.

Clayton was hired by Miller Brewery in Fulton, NY and then was promoted to a job with Miller in Eden, North Carolina in 1978. There he met his future bride, Linda Kay Watson, and married September 28, 1980.

He then took a job with Kay Chemical and later Ecolab. Clayton’s passion to help people in need, led him to serve in many capacities in multiple organizations. He assisted with the St. Joseph’s Of The Hills Youth Group, United Way, St. Patrick’s Elementary School and several other charities. There were numerous persons and community members that he supported financially and physically that we are learning about each following day…..

Clayton is survived by his step daughter, Regina Amador and Shane Lamaak. He has two grandchildren, Carly Heffinger and Jade and Ray Boyd and four great grandchildren; Shadow Heffinger, J.J. Hutchings, Jordon Boyd and Dallas Boyd, brother Mark and Eileen(Coughlan) Kriechbaum, and their three children Clayton Merritt, Erika Jean(Tyler) Dahl, Regan Marie(Callie) Kriechbaum, sister Barbara and David Kinney and their son, Jamey(Andrea) Kinney and sister Patricia Kriechbaum Miles and her two children, Keeley Ann Hines and Killian J. Miles and sister-in-law Karen and Don Stevenson. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews.

Clayton was predeceased by his wife Kay Smith Kriechbaum, his parents Harold and Marjorie Kriechbaum, grandparents Harry and Loretta Kriechbaum and Anthony and Margaret Virgilio, Uncles Clayton H. Kriechbaum and Joseph Virgilio, aunt Antoinette Peer and son-in-law Bobby Amador.

Clayton’s burial will occur at a later date in his home town and is to be announced at a later time. The family requests that instead of flowers, to please make contributions to the St. Joseph’s Of The Hills Catholic Church in Eden, NC.
