Clarence Dawkins departed this life on Sunday afternoon, January 21, 2024.

As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was formerly employed as a landscaper. Spiritually, he was a member of United House of Prayer. During his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, playing baseball and riding his bike.

His parents, Irene Smith Dawkins and Woodrow Dawkins; sisters, Dorothy Totten, Joann Gaines and Oreta Cardwell; brother, William Thomas Dawkins, preceded him in death. Survivors are: sisters, Elouise Davis, Gracie Williams, Sheneva Booker (Rev. Alvin), Mattie Dawkins, Emily Ziglar (Clarence) and Brenda Dawkins; brother, Bishop Woodrow Dawkins; special friend, Daryl Gaston; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 from the chapel of Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street with Elder J. Washington presiding. The family visitation will be Friday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Public viewing will be Thursday afternoon at Johnson & Sons.
