Cindy Elizabeth Darnell Vernon, 72, of Clemmons, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Hospice Home of High Point.

A 2:00 p.m. graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Glenn’s Chapel Church Cemetery.

Cindy was born in Forsyth County on July 15, 1951, to the late Jack and Kathleen Southern Darnell. She worked for many years at Proctor and Gamble before retiring. She was a selfless, loving, mother, “Nanny”, and sister and often spent her days taking care of her grandchildren, whom she adored, after her retirement. Cindy was a very strong mother who loved unconditionally and was always there for anyone who needed help. She loved her family and loved the Lord. Her children would like to express how lucky they were to have her as their mother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Darnell; her grandson, Christian Vernon; her nephew, Frank Doss; and her niece, Candy Collett.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Steve Vernon of the home; her daughters, Amy Landreth (Tim) and Amanda Vernon both of Stoneville; her siblings, Linda Doss (Frank), Brenda Newsome (Mike), Lester Darnell (Rhonda), Joe Darnell (Pandora), and Teresa Atkins (Wade) all of Advance; two grandchildren, Landon Woods and Carlie Landreth; her best friend, Carolyn Alley; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Hospice Home of High Point for all the love and care they provided to Cindy.
