In loving memory of Christopher Lee Smith (December 2nd, 1981 – May 21st, 2023)

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Madison.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Christopher Lee Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Smith.

Christopher was first and foremost, a father. His two sons, Cameron (17) and Landen Smith (16), meant everything to him. In addition, Chris was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend to those around him. His presence touched the lives of so many! His sudden, untimely departure leaves an indescribable hole in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

Chris, acknowledging his own shortcomings, would want us to remember that he wasn’t always perfect. He faced his own struggles, and like us all, made mistakes along the way. While he may not have always lived up to his own expectations, his love for his children and family was unwavering and profound! He took great pride in watching his sons grow into remarkable young men. The bond between a father and his children is complex, and it is through complete understanding of grace and mercy that we can honor Chris’s journey. We can find comfort in the fact that this isn’t the way his story ended. His legacy lives on in his beautiful boys, as well as through the memories he leaves with all of us!

Beyond his love of family and close friends, Chris had a beautiful heart and believed in the power and love of the Lord Jesus Christ. He also firmly believed in Jesus’ message of redemption and forgiveness.

He always lent a helping hand to others, and would give you the shirt off his back. While Chris’s departure has left an indescribable void, his memory will live on through both the love he shared as well as all the lives he touched.

As we come together to celebrate the life of Chris, let us remember the complexities of the human experience. Let us embrace the imperfect nature of our own experiences and relationships, and find compassion in our own hearts. May the memory of Christopher Smith inspire us all to appreciate the struggles we face, and extend understanding and forgiveness to one another.

In this time of profound grief, please also remember his mother and stepfather, his siblings, nieces and nephews, and most especially his precious sons. May we all find comfort and strength in the love and support of those around us.

Rest in peace, Chris! May your spirit find peace, and may our hearts find solace in the forgiveness we offer. You loved and were loved, more than you could ever know! ❤️
