Mrs. Cheryl Nicholson Wheeler, the beloved wife of Timothy Wheeler, departed this life on Thursday afternoon, October 20, 2022.

She was a native of New Haven, Connecticut and a resident of North Carolina for the majority of her life. Attending the local public schools, she was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1985 and pursued further education at Alamance Community College. Cheryl was a former Administrator for New Beginnings and Flo’s Home Sweet Home Daycare. Spiritually, she was a faithful member of Trinity Holy Tabernacle Church, under the leadership of her father, Bishop Alphonse Nicholson. To this fellowship, she gave resources of time, talent and means. She was the Youth Coordinator, Choir Director, Adult Choir Leader and a member of the Building Fund Committee. Cheryl loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, reading, singing and watching soap operas.

Her parents, Bishop Alphonse Nicholson and Elder Geraldine Johnson Nicholson; grandchild, Vanessa Renne Brown; siblings, James Nicholson, Rose Nicholson Rudd and Elder Vernice Nicholson Smalls, preceded her in death.

Survivors are: beloved husband of 27 years, Timothy Wheeler; daughter, Taquia Brown (D’Anthony); sons, Ali Norman (Michelle) and Shawn “Dirty” Norman; 6 grandchildren; sisters, Overseer Florine Ortega (Apostle Roberto), Marie Cobb (Bishop James), Margaret Mitchell (Ronnie) and Evang. Cynthia N. Sweeney; brothers, Spencer Keesee (Cornelia), Earl Nicholson (Sandra) and Alexander Nicholson (Dewanna); a host of aunts and uncles; sister-in-law, Karel Wheeler; brother-in-law, Robert Smalls, John Wheeler, Jr. (Sharon), James Wheeler, Sr. (Sharon), David Wheeler (Jewel) and Anthony Wheeler (Mary); special friends, Wanda Lane, Tammy Warner and Letisha Jeffries; step-mother, Elder Waxie H. Nicholson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 from the Trinity Holy Tabernacle Church, 2225 Smith Street with Elder Robin Bridges presiding and Overseer Florine N. Ortega as the eulogist. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Public viewing will be Friday afternoon at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.
