Obituary: CHARLES WILLIAM DOSS

Charles “Charlie” William Doss, 81, of Stoneville, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at his home.

A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Terry Funeral and Cremation Service with Minister Linda Smoak officiating. Burial will follow at Stoneville City Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Charlie was born in Rockingham County on August 15, 1943, to the late Dallas William and Eda Mae Owens Doss. He was a US Veteran, serving his country proudly in the US Army, US Navy, and the US National Guard Reserves, fighting for the United States in Desert Storm. He worked as a supervisor at Stoneville Furniture for many years. Charlie was also a very giving man, would do anything for anyone and even sponsored children overseas. His pride and joy were “his three girls”. Charlie was an avid Washington Redskins and UNC Tar Heels fan.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers, Hassel, Harold, Fred, and Curtis; his sisters, Odell, Odessa, Carolyn, Katie, Pauline, and Earline; and his grandson, Justin Doss.

Those left to cherish his memory are his three girls, Jodi Herring of Burlington, Jill Faircloth of Burlington, and Heather Fisher of Reidsville; his sisters, Sandy Tilley and husband Donnie of Madison and Patsy Murray of Mayodan; five grandchildren, Victoria, Troy, Abigail, Adalyn, and Jack; four great grandchildren, Kenai, Zorya, Jaxx, and Jameson; and his special friends, Jimmy Galloway, Red, and Eugene and Pauline Harding.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockingham County Veterans Honor Guard, 4655 Price Road, Stoneville, NC 27048.
