Charles Kitchen Williams, Sr., 76, of Walnut Cove, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Wesley Long Hospital.
A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Shane Tolliver officiating. Burial will follow at Ellisboro Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Charles was born in Rockingham County on March 8, 1947, to the late Raymond and Margie Manuel Williams. He was of the Baptist faith and worked in construction. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather (Poppy) that loved his family and always enjoyed joking around. His passion was working with heavy equipment, especially his tractors. He loved watching wrestling and the local news every day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Lanny Joseph Williams.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Sherry Gravley Williams of the home; his daughters, Barbara Williams Manley of Stokesdale, Cynthia Williams Thomas (Mike) of Wilmington, and Debra Williams Marsh (Frank) of Stoneville; his son, Charles Kitchen Williams, Jr. (April) of Madison; two sisters; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and his grand dogs, Dolly, Cash, and Baby Girl.
