Charles Brewster “B” Overby, 82, left this earthly life, Thursday, December 29, 2022, at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel. A private interment will follow at Critz Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., prior to the service.
Charles was born June 21, 1940, in Stokes County to the late Burrell F. Overby and Lois Harris Overby. He was a US Army veteran, was retired from Vanity Fair with 33 years of service, and attended Minnie’s Chapel Weslyan Church. He was incredibly generous always putting others ahead of himself. He loved raising a garden, working on cars, and spending time with the joys of his life; his two grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Willie Douglas Overby, Frankie James Overby, and Donnie Overby; sisters, Shirley Jane Overby Gilley and Brenda Kay Overby.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Judy Hundley Overby; a son, Mark Overby (Karen); grandchildren, Andrew and Adrianna Overby; brothers, Perry Overby (Pauline), Larry Overby, Glenn Overby (Pam), and Barry Overby (Wendy); sisters, Patsy Mullins (Jimmy), Juanita Osborne (Blane), Phyllis Johnson, and Cynthia Handy (Danny).
Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s or Heart Associations.
Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
