Obituary: CATHERINE DIANE GWAREK

Catherine Diane Gwarek, 67, of Reidsville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the Penn Nursing Center.

The family will conduct a memorial service 11:00 AM Thursday, November 30, 2023, at New Lebanon Christian Church with Pastor Jaret McBryde officiating. The family will see friends 10:00 till 11:00 AM before the service at the church and at other times will be at the home of her daughter Amanda Garcia, 215 Purcell Rd., Reidsville.

She was born in the Panama Canal Zone to the late Donald E. and Nancy Curtis Gwarek and had lived most of her life in Rockingham County. She was a former employee of Rockingham County Mental Health later Daymark and attended New Lebanon Christian Church. She was a homeschool teacher with the New Lebanon Home School Guild, a member formerly at several local churches where she served as a choir member and featured soloist, she looked after the children’s choir and drove a bus for the bus ministry. Catherine enjoyed traveling with her daughter and camping. She was preceded in death by her parents: Donald E. and Nancy C. Gwarek, her brother: Duane Edward Gwarek and his wife Katie, and a niece Adrienne Gwarek.

Survivors include her two daughters: Amanda Garcia (Frank) and Melissa Travis both of Reidsville, bonus daughter: Danielle Lynn Roop of Reidsville, brother: Gregory Paul Gwarek (Holly) of Fayetteville, grandchildren: Travis, Keira, Damon, and Skylar, great grandchildren: A.J. and Elizabeth.

Memorials may be sent to Citty Funeral Home to help cover expenses.
