Carol Faye Frye Blackard, 65, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Carol was born on June 30, 1959 in Rockingham County to the late Roy Frye, Jr. and Frances Clark Frye. She was a graduate of Stoneville High School and attended Victor Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church. Carol dedicated many years to the medical field before establishing her own business, Med-Type Transcription, which she owned for fifteen years. Above all, she cherished her family. Carol found joy in the simple pleasures. She loved sitting on her front porch, scenic drives, solving crossword puzzles and engaging in heartfelt conversations with her dear friends Amanda Cardwell and Sandra Ellington.
Carol loved her family fiercely. Carol and Junior built a wonderful life together even after very humble beginnings. Three of their greatest gifts were their daughters. They became grandparents to three precious girls and recently a great-granddaughter. Carol was a “mama bear” and nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her girls and her sons-in-law. She was extremely proud of her family.
Survivors include her husband of forty-eight years, Carl Blackard, Jr.; daughters, Heather Carol Blackard Hicks (Christopher), Christie Elizabeth Blackard Gray (Jerry) and Carla Renee Blackard; grandchildren, Carlie Lee (Christian), Emma Hicks and Scarlette Gray and great-grandchild, Clarke Lee.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
