Obituary: CARLEEN COX KALLAM

Carleen Cox Kallam, 91, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at North Pointe of Mayodan.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Glenn’s Chapel Church with Brother Paul Sisk officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Friday at the church and all other times at the home of her son, Jackie Kallam.

Carleen was born on December 26, 1933 in Stokes County to the late Roy Columbus Cox and Lottie Bell Bullins Cox. She worked for Washington Mills/Tultex and retired after forty plus years of service. After retirement she became a dedicated caregiver for many in the community. She will always be remembered for giving of herself selflessly and loving her family fiercely.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Ray “Blues” Kallam, Sr.; daughter, Vickie Lynn Amos and siblings, Mike Cox, Roy Cox, Jr., Katie McBride and Marie Edge.

Survivors include her sons, Jackie Ray Kallam, Jr. and wife, Sandra, Dickie Dyson Kallam and Phillip Anthony Kallam; grandchildren, Dickie Kallam, Jr., Amber Kallam, Jason Kallam, Jordan Kallam, Ashley Kallam and Phillip Kallam, Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many extended family.

The family wishes to thank Tammy and Tiffany at North Pointe for their loving care, as well as Ancora Compassionate Care for their attentive care.
