Carl Wayne King, 78, of Summerfield, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Pastor Gerald Mills officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Wayne was born in Rockingham County to the late Carl Vester King & Dorothy Sharpe King. He loved landscaping, working in the yard, driving trucks, building, and fixing things around the house.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Delores Saunders King. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Chavis, and her husband, Dwayne; grandchildren, Dwayne Chavis II (Samantha), Adam Chavis (Taylor), and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Tripp, Olivia, and Josie; stepson, Jim Culbertson (Kim); son, Josh Kogutkiewicz (Sheree); brother, Ray King (Naomi) and nephews and niece.
