Obituary: CALVIN DUANE SCALES

Calvin Duane Scales was born March 9, 1958, to the late Mr. Bill Scales and Mrs. Carleen Claybrooks Scales. He departed this life on April 24, 2025, at the age of 67.

A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Fountain of Youth Ministries with Bishop William Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Collins Cemetery in Madison. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Mr. Scales will lie in repose at Terry Funeral and Cremation Service on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects.

Calvin attended Rockingham Public Schools and graduated from Madison-Mayodan High School in 1976. Calvin loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with friends and family.

He joined Mt. Carmel Holiness Church at an early age and later was an active member of Fountain of Youth Ministries. Calvin worked at Byrds, Winn Dixie, and Food Lion, where he recently retired. He greeted everyone with a friendly smile and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Pamela Graves and to their union, one daughter, Amelia Scales.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kenya J. Webster; brothers, James A Scales and Timmy Ray Scales.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pamela Scales; daughter, Amelia Scales; brother, Michael L. Scales (Annette); and a host of nieces. Nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
